Message from the
PRESIDENT
This past year at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology can most aptly be described as " transformational. "
Demand for an education at Thaddeus Stevens College continues to increase year over year, while demand for our
graduates increases at an even greater rate.
T
he opening of the new Thaddeus Stevens
College of Technology Greiner Advanced
Manufacturing Center last Spring marked
a milestone for the College. There is no
facility like this in the region, and it serves as a model
of collaboration between bi-partisan government,
industry, and the community coming together to
address an urgent and growing need to meet a labor
skills gap in technology, advanced manufacturing and
construction in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
and across the country. This model is a cornerstone
of the future of Thaddeus Stevens College.
The College remains an anomaly in higher education.
While other colleges are experiencing financial
challenges, declining enrollment, and rising costs,
Thaddeus Stevens College is on firm financial footing.
Our benefactor, Thaddeus Stevens, believed that
education changes lives. Our two-fold mission, to
provide economically disadvantaged individuals in
Pennsylvania a technical education that enables them
to break the cycle of poverty and secure a career at
a family-sustaining wage, and to support the critical
workforce needs of Pennsylvania, remains at the
center of all we do. Every decision - from the majors
we offer, to facility expansion, to the faculty who
educate the men and women who attend our College
- is based on this core mission.
This year will be my last year at the helm of this great
College. Collectively, we set a vision for growth, and
have aligned the resources to achieve that vision. I
am grateful to have had the opportunity to lead a
team that has been a driving force in advancing the
College to this important place in its evolution. The
Governor of Pennsylvania, the honorable Tom Wolf,

and the PA General Assembly, are to be credited
for their generous support of the College. Their
commitment to fund an expanded dining hall and
dormitory, as well as commitments for additional
capital funding, will allow us to expand our programs
and increase access to an education at Thaddeus
Stevens College of Technology.
Our loyal donors, including our alumni and industry,
further support our mission, and I thank them for
their ongoing commitment to the College's vision.
I will miss seeing the students every day, witnessing
first-hand the transformation in their lives, especially
the most underrepresented and financially
disadvantaged students. Collectively, we have
changed the circumstances of thousands of lives
throughout my time at the College and since the
College opened its
doors to its first
students on April 1,
1909.
I am grateful to
have been a part
of advancing the
mission of this
great College and
the vision of its
benefactor who so
wisely knew the
transformational
impact of an
education on the
lives of individuals
and their families.
