Dear Friends,
I'm happy to present to you our 2023-2024
President's Annual Report. Within these pages,
you'll find a combination of data, stories, and
acknowledgments that illustrate our collective
impact - which is really your collective impact.
Your gifts, support, and intentionality make all the
difference.
When I reflect on what we've done together this past
year, I'm proud to be part of the Thaddeus Stevens
College community, and I'm proud of those....
... like student Ariel Palacios-Rojas, who followed
his love of tinkering with gadgets into our
Electronic Engineering Technology program
despite his concerns about English not being his
family's first language (pg. 4)
... like parents Lou Ann and John Mylott, who turned
one of the most difficult moments of their lives into
an opportunity for others (pg. 5)
... like alumnus David Thompson, who found his way
back to campus, bringing years of industry experience
into the classroom as an instructor (pg. 3)
... like industry partner Clark Associates, for their
support of program development, student interns,
and graduate careers (pg. 6)
While the reasons people attend, teach, and give
vary, they all reflect our century-long commitment
to providing underserved students a path toward
family thriving wages. But the mission is even
broader than that.
That 98% of our students have a job offer or are
pursuing continuing education upon graduation
shows we're filling a dire need for skilled workers in
the region and across the state, while launching our
graduates into success. This pathway we're creating
is powering the statewide economy.
This report shows where we've been this past year
and where we are now. But, looking ahead, we
see an ever-changing landscape. And we must be
ready. As Pennsylvania's core industries-including
construction, manufacturing, transportation, and
entrepreneurship-rapidly become more complex,
nuanced, and technologically advanced, our
curriculum, facilities, and equipment need to keep
up. As housing, fuel, and food prices rise, our
students, including first-generation college students
and working parents, need more financial support
than ever before.
We're grateful for long-standing support from the
Commonwealth. But it's not enough. To achieve our
ambitious goals, we must continue to rely on ardent
supporters of our mission-people like you.
May the stories sprinkled throughout this
report inspire you as much as they do me.
