RECOGNIZE THE

Dr. William E. Griscom
D
r. William Griscom, former president of Thaddeus
Stevens College of Technology, was recognized at
a retirement reception hosted by the College Board
of Trustees to honor his legacy at the College.
In recognition of that legacy, the College will dedicate
its Orange Street location as the " Griscom Education
Center. " An endowed scholarship in his name was
also announced.
Maryann Marotta, Chair of the Thaddeus Stevens
College of Technology Board of Trustees, said,
" Throughout Dr. Griscom's 23 years of dedication
to our College, his hallmark was a constant focus
on overcoming challenges and making the most of
opportunities for the benefit of our students. "
Lancaster Chamber of Commerce President and
member of the College Board of Trustees, Tom
Baldrige, and Thaddeus Stevens College President
Pedro A. Rivera, announced the naming of the
Griscom Education Center. " On behalf of the entire
leadership team of Thaddeus Stevens College, I thank
Dr. Griscom for his leadership, his vision for what
this institution could be, and for the ways he and
his family have given to Thaddeus Stevens College.
Thanks to his leadership, the College is in a strong
position to continue to grow and evolve to reach the
full potential inherent in the mission established by
our benefactor, Thaddeus Stevens. "
Pam Smith, Executive Director of the Office of
Advancement for Thaddeus Stevens College, was
joined by Joe Wysock, member of the College Board
of Trustees and President of the Thaddeus Stevens
Alumni Association, in announcing the creation of the
William E. Griscom Endowed Scholarship fund. The
fund was established by leading donors including Eric

Blow, President of Astro Machine; Michael McAuliffe
Miller, Member, Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott,
LLC; Frank and Sharon Greiner; Allen and Nancy Tate;
and the Thaddeus Stevens Foundation. Smith said,
" Dr. Griscom is not a man of fanfare or attention, but
is truly passionate about serving Thaddeus Stevens
College students. A gift of lifelong learning for a
student is the best way to keep his legacy alive in an
impactful way. "
" It has been the greatest honor and privilege of my
life to serve as the President of Thaddeus Stevens
College of Technology for the last 23 years, " Griscom
said at the time of his retirement in January, 2020. " I
have been extremely fortunate to lead an incredible
team of faculty and staff who are dedicated to
fulfilling the mission of the College. I have also been
very fortunate to have had the unwavering support
of the Board of Trustees, Alumni, Foundation, and the
community. Any success we have had, has been the
direct result of a total team effort. "
