ummer has always been a season of reinvigoration at Thaddeus Stevens College. We say goodbye
to our 2nd year students with a commencement ceremony, prepare for the return of our 1st year
students to enter their final year, and focus on welcoming our incoming 1st year students to begin
their journey with us.
This summer, many of our facilities are getting a facelift with painting in our dorms, roof repairs, and
other infrastructure upgrades needed to accommodate the projected increase in student enrollment,
and the urgent demand by industry for our graduates. Plans continue for the build of the new dorm/
dining hall, new labs, and the community center/maker space, while existing labs are being outfitted
with new state-of-the-art equipment.
We are putting the finishing touches on our newest program, Civil Engineering and Construction
Technology, which will welcome its first group of students this fall. Diesel Technology will see its
inaugural class of 1st year students rise to their 2nd year, with a new group of 1st year students
coming in August to mark the full operation of that program. Several of our programs have also
expanded their capacity for fall, including Auto Technology, and Computer Software Engineering
Technology.
The work of our students and faculty continues to receive recognition and accolades. The home
construction project was awarded first place in the 2022 Parade of Homes " Fulton Bank Award for
Best Townhome/Semi-Detached, " and took home the award for " Best of Show - Townhome Division. "
Our athletic teams competed regionally and nationally in their respective sports this past year, and
academic teams across our majors traveled to state-wide and national competitions, including the
national Skills USA in Atlanta this summer.
As we look forward to fall 2022, we prepare for what may be the largest student census in the history
of the College. Student interest remains strong, and many of our programs have waiting lists. To
accommodate the ever-increasing demand by students to attend the College, and from business and
industry to hire our graduates, we continue to strategically plan program expansion. Throughout the
upcoming academic year, we plan to address the infrastructure, technology, and staffing to expand
our Computer and Network Systems Administration, Electrical Construction Technology, and ElectroMechanical
Technology programs for the fall 2023 semester.
On the back of this issue of The Tower, you will find a student referral card. I encourage you to fill out
the card, sharing with us the name and contact information of a student you think may benefit from
exploring Thaddeus Stevens College as a first step toward a successful life-long career. With our low
tuition, minimal or no student debt, and careers that are in demand and paying livable wages, why
not pass on your legacy as an alumni or friend of the College to a new generation of Bulldogs?
