" I came and did this so they
could get motivated and
do it too, " she said.
In addition to inspiring her children,
she is motivated by learning skills
she can apply to daily life.
" The teachers are really good at
explaining and showing you how
to do it. By coming to the Center
and learning in this hands-on way,
it's fabulous, " Damaris said.

DAMARIS RAMOS
Damaris Ramos is a mother, business
owner, and Lancaster native. Her
decision to enroll in the Facilities
Maintenance program at the
Workforce Center was twofold. As
owner of Damaris Management
Properties, she wanted to elevate
her offerings and abilities to serve
her clients better. As a mother,
she wanted to inspire her children
to pursue education and find
work they are excited to do.
She chose the program because of her
ongoing work buying properties and

renting out space. Damaris hires team
members to perform maintenance
work, and she felt increasing her
own knowledge of how to complete
those responsibilities would
enhance her core business. She
also wanted to gain an education
for her children, understanding
they are a reflection of herself. " By
attending a college program and
showing them, they'll see: If I can
do it, they can do it, " she said.
While she is learning at the Center,
Damaris' sons are furthering their
education-one in the Plumbing
ERIKA REYES
With an associate degree in Business
Administration and nearly six years of
experience working in offices, Erika
Reyes was nowhere near the field of
facilities management. However, she
loved tackling projects around her
home such as tiling and drywalling.
" My mom would always tell me,
'Why don't you find a course or
something so you can actually go
learn how to do these projects
correctly, " Erika recalled. " Finally,
the opportunity came, and I was
able to do this. I'm here, and I love it. "
