RED EFFECT
Wayne " Red " Deibler graduated
from Thaddeus Stevens College of
Technology's Carpentry program
in 1957. He was an accomplished
wrestler, leading the College's
wrestling team through an
undefeated season as captain
in his second year at the school.
" He believed the
years he attended
Stevens were the
foundation of
his success, and
because of that,
he deeply believed
in giving back to
the school. "

After graduating, Red continued to
support the wrestling program and
displayed an immense commitment
to supporting future generations
of Bulldogs with his energy, talent,
and financial contributions.
" Some of dad's happiest times
were when he would get together
with his teammates and friends
from Stevens, " said Treva Deibler,
Red's daughter, reflecting on his
commitment to his alma mater.
" He believed the years he attended
Stevens were the foundation
of his success, and because of
that, he deeply believed in giving
back to the school, " she said.
The generous support of the
Deibler family helped modernize
the Multipurpose Activity Center
(MAC) at Thaddeus Stevens College,
with funds going toward a brandnew
video monitor, scoreboard,
improved sound systems, backboard
lights, and a shot clock. In years
prior, Red contributed toward
purchasing brand-new wrestling
mats for the athletic program.
The family has continued to
support the College with another
generous donation in 2023.
Red went out of his way to support
the College, with particular
emphasis on enhancing the
student experience, explains Dr.
Chris Metzler, Vice President of
Student Services and Director of
Athletics at Thaddeus Stevens
College. Chris says Red wanted
to provide a venue for students
to play competitive sports similar
to other colleges, and through his
continuous support over many years,
the College's wrestling program and
athletics overall have progressed.
In 2012, Red was inducted into
the Thaddeus Stevens College of
Technology Athletic Hall of Fame.
During a speech given at the
Thaddeus Stevens College : 6
awards ceremony, Red expressed
his gratitude for the friendships and
camaraderie he found on campus,
stating, " It is easy for a young boy
the first time away from home to
start down the wrong path, but
with the help of great teachers,
instructors, Coach Maurey, and
others here at the school, they
saw that I had the discipline I
needed. Because of my involvement
in sports, I have met and been
influenced by outstanding people. "
In 2022, Red passed away, leaving
his wife Janice with their four
children, eight grandchildren, and
12 great-grandchildren to carry on
his legacy of generosity, community
service, and Bulldog pride.
