When we moved here 40 years ago, it's no secret
that it was very challenging to find people that
would come to work here. We lacked places
for people to live and for their children to go
to school.
We knew that to build a world-class community
we needed to attract a world-class team.
A lot has changed over the years. Now, there
are places to live and things to do and we've
created an amazing school. But it felt like we
needed to do more.
With our Charter School at capacity with
many grades having waiting lists, the decision
needed to be made, "Are we going to expand?"
In doing so, the one thing that is very
important to us is that we maintain the culture
and quality experience as well as the educational
excellence the Charter School is known for.
We also wanted to create a sense of community
surrounding the school. We envisioned
neighborhoods much like The Villages offering the
amenities that families could enjoy.
There is really nothing more important to a
parent than for their child to receive a quality
education, in a welcoming environment where
there is a love for learning and the ability for their
own children to realize their dreams.

Over the years, the residents have fully embraced
their commitment to the charter school as a whole,
through the countless hours of volunteerism and
the support of the booster clubs.
Our designers have done a fabulous job selecting
the perfect location and setting, where the schools
are connected through a parks system that lead to
the neighboring town center and surrounded by a
wide variety of housing types.
So the expansion will bring two K-8 campuses,
our north campus located on 466 and a new
campus near CR470. Both K-8 campuses will feed
into the all new expanded high school campus
that will bring the latest in technology, education,
academics, arts, sciences and athletics.
Plans for a state-of-the-art sports complex at the
new high school include an Olympic size swimming
facility and diving center, expanded tennis courts,
a large indoor sports and event complex capable of
hosting large tournaments for basketball, wrestling
and volleyball (just to name a few), multi-purpose
outdoor fields for soccer and lacrosse as well as
stadiums for track and field, baseball, softball
and football.
There are even areas reserved for outdoor
learning and performances with the addition of
an amphitheater.
We imagine this as a place to host state and
regional events, as well as Senior Games. The
facilities will be designed for shared use including
opportunities for Villages recreation to host
programs for residents throughout the day and
student use in the latter school hours.
We are very hopeful that the creation of this
neighborhood, and the support district in which
it will lie along, with the expansion of our charter
school will provide a wonderful sense of community
for all those who live, work and play there.
If all goes as planned, we hope to welcome
students in the fall of 2023.
