George S. Ehara is
Outstanding Union Builder of the Year
The Hawaii Regional Council of
Carpenters has named George S.
Ehara, vice president and division
manager of Swinerton Builders in
Hawaii, the 2014 Outstanding Union
Builder of the Year. Ehara was honored
on Jan. 7 at a reception hosted by
The Pacific Resource Partnership. The
award is given annually to a contractor
who has made exceptional contributions to the construction industry and
the community, taken a cooperative
approach to labor-management
relations, and demonstrated strong
support of union construction.
"Under George's leadership,
Swinerton Builders beat the odds," said
Ron Taketa, executive secretarytreasurer of the
Hawaii Regional
Council of
Carpenters. "The
company not
only survived,
but thrived
during the recession. Today, Swinerton is the second
largest contractor in the state-and it's
all thanks to George's hard work, his
integrity, his commitment to excellence, and his desire to build strong
relationships across the industry."
Ehara joined Swinerton Builders in
1999. In 2005 he was named vice president of Swinerton's Hawaii operation.
"It's quite an honor to receive this
award and to add my name to the
impressive list of previous recipients,
many of whom I know and look up
to," said Ehara. "I share this award
with all of the employees of Swinerton
who work hard every day to deliver
projects that add value to our community and that we can be proud of."
