ContractsAwarded January Awards Just the Beginning This past January resulted in $45,883,048 in contracts awarded. Although this amount is less than half the contracts awarded for the same month in 2013, which equaled an impressive $87,448,825, we should by no means read this as a sign that 2014 is headed in the wrong direction. In fact, sources from all facets of the industry and government are forecasting a relatively strong year for Hawaii construction on the way. Oahu led the Islands with $34,946,846 in contracts, while Kauai, Hawaii and Maui each reported contracts within the $3 to $4.8 million range. DOTHNL made the top of the list of agencies for January, awarding contracts totaling $26,186,766. Grace Pacific hit a high note with a contract for $13,992,948, the largest of the month; BCP Construction of Hawaii, Inc. was the second-largest winner, with two contracts that totaled $11,579,769.
