Inside the CFMA Honolulu Chapter
®
Helping You Build a Better Bottom Line
Corporate financial officers, bankers, insurers and accountants make up the Construction
Financial Management Association, an organization designed to offer sources and
resources to meet the challenges of construction financial professionals. Its
Honolulu Chapter, founded in 1986, is comprised of about 60 members.
President's Message
According to Dr. Jack Suyderhoud,
professor of business economics at
UH-Manoa and economic advisor to
First Hawaiian Bank, construction
in Hawaii is expected to grow by
15 percent in 2014. Realistically 2014
may not yield the same 30 percentplus growth that we saw in the equities market in 2013, but the bottom
line is that 15 percent is the shot in
the arm that we all need. And while
the 2013 figures aren't finalized,
construction growth was forecasted
at 10 percent over 2012. So that's
two good years of steady growth for
our industry. The consensus, not
consistently across the board, is that
business is getting better and that
backlogs are building up. I hope you
reaped the benefits in 2013 and are
ready for an even better 2014.
