NEWS MAKERS BIA-Hawaii CEO Receives National Certification G ladys Quinto Marrone, JD, CAE, the CEO and chief lobbyist of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii (BIA-Hawaii), has received her Certified Association Executive credentials. She is the seventh CAE executive in the state of Hawaii. The American Society of Association Executives announced 163 executives had recently received their CAE credential and Marrone was the only Hawaii executive included. The CAE program serves to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance and designate those who have acquired and demonstrated knowledge essential to the practice of association management. "I am excited to have achieved this professional designation and appreciate the management expertise this certification will bring to our trade organization members, our foundation and industry education efforts," Marrone said. AIA Awards Architect Hong The American Institute of Architects has selected local architect Chris Hong among 14 national recipients its 2015 Young Architects Award. Hong, AIA, NCARB and LEED AP with design firm Group Chris Hong 70 International, is the only architect from Hawaii to receive this merit since it was created in 1993. The AIA gives this award to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career. Hong will accept the award in May at the AIA Convention 2015 in Atlanta. Hong is a project architect and project manager for First Hawaiian Bank, leading a collaborative effort to re-envision the branch banking process to revolutionize the way banking is handled in the state. Gladys Quinto Marrone Jordan Takahashi has joined Kiewit Building Group Inc. as an engineer on the general contractor's jobsite management team. Takahashi, who completed an internship with Kiewit in the summer of 2014, will help Jordan Takahashi to refine the company's construction management systems and technologies to better serve the needs of clients and the local community. He will be responsible for the technical aspects of constructing a project including surveying, layout and submittal processing. construction administration assistant, helps in the administration of several projects currently under construction. G70 Hires Wichman, Yago, Lujan BASE Names Frontera an Associate Takahashi Joins Kiewit Alana Wichman, Brande Yago and Joelle Lujan have joined the architecture and interior design divisions of Group 70 International, Inc. Wichman, a construction administration assistant with G70, is responsible for Alana Wichman assisting in the administration of several projects currently under construction. Previously she was an architectural designer and project manager at Coulter Construction in Kailua and a junior design consultant at Osumi Nakai Maekawa Architects in Honolulu. Yago, a Brande Yago Fernando Frontera has been promoted to associate at Baldridge & Associates Structural Engineering Inc. where he will have an expanded role in project management, including monitoring budgets and project sched- Fernando Frontera ules, supervising staff, and developing engineering agreements. Frontera began his career at BASE in 2006. His projects include the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, Andaz Maui at Wailea and The Ritz-Carlton Residences Waikiki Beach currently under construction. He has also developed expertise in Antiterrorism/ Force Protection (AT/FP) and is president of the Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii.
