July Adds to Incredible Quarter
Kauai Maui DLNR DoD DOE UH
How long will it take for the “filter down” effect to affect you? If you haven’t felt it yet – you soon should. Agencies have been overflowing with awards for over three months now. May awards were up 554 percent over last year for an additional $89,580,042. June followed with an increase of 343 percent for an additional $93,388,754. July awards also surpassed last year by 337 percent for an increase of $55,316,988. In short, we’re looking at an incredible quarter during which agencies in Hawaii awarded the industry a total of $298,118,061. That’s $238,285,784 more than the same period last year when they awarded a mere $59,832,277. And that’s not all. According to a shell-shocked Alfonso R. Rivera, who as research editor, has to print up details of all this new business for his subscribers in BIDService Weekly, the month of August is continuing the frantic pace and he’s already had to order extra paper for the magazine. Of course, you can help save a tree and be the first to learn the actual figures by checking www.buildingindustryhawaii.com. The new August numbers should be posted in “Breaking News” by Sept. 10.
