Honoring an Icon Building Industry magazine and its parent company Trade Publishing offer sincere condolences to the family, many friends and associates of the late Albert Chikanobu Kobayashi. As the founder of Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc. General Contractors, which he created in 1949 and incorporated in 1963, Albert was recognized widely as a pace-setting and respected leader in Hawaii’s building industry. He served as president of the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, was active in the Home Builders Association of Hawaii, General Contractors Association and Oahu Contractors Association as well as the Japanese Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Ala Moana and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. In 1999, he was honored by the Japanese Cultural Center with a Celebration of Lifetime Achievement and, in 2008, was inducted into the Hawaii Building Industry Hall of Fame. The company he created 64 years ago, this year celebrates its 50th anniversary of incorporation. A memorable and significant legacy.
