Kanaka Ikaika Association (KIRA) has been providing Since 1979, Kanaka Ikaika Racing paddlers an opportunity to paddle and race in a great range of variables: different courses, different paddle crafts, different weather conditions, etc... 2012 will be remembered for consistent trade winds! Almost every race this year had favorable conditions! And although a we would all rather go downwind. real paddler will race in any conditions, The best paddlers of 2012 included Photos by Ropati new and old faces. Pat Dolan has to take the cake as he won every KIRA race he entered; some on his Scorpius XM OC-1 and some on the Allwave CX surfski. But when Pat was on the other side, Manny K would stomp the OC field, ing the surfski division. HCKT’s Shelly Oates Wilding won every surfski race she entered on the Allwave CX, with with Mike Beyer or Zsolt Szadovszki own- the female champion changing hands throughout the entire season between Lori Nakamura, Rachel Bruntsch, Arlene winning more than any of the other Light State Championship. Holzman, Jane McKee and Lindsey Shank women including the wet and wild Bud 2012 sponsor and support was provided by BUD LIGHT LIME, KIALOA, HINANO SURFWEAR, OIWI, HALEIWA JOE’S, FAT BOYS, HCKT, JCS, PACIFIC PADDLER, ALLWAVE, FOTI BROS. and PADDLE SPORTS INTERNATIONAL.
