A CURRENT AFFAIR
Volt Deliveries looks to carve out a niche as Ontario's first entirely electric delivery
and courier service
IF THERE'S ANYTHING the pandemic has taught us, it's
that with a few simple clicks, just about anything can be
delivered to your door at any time.
With the introduction of apps and services for food,
grocery and same-day deliveries, more consumers started
relying on the ability to get something delivered directly to
them at the click of a button, and with a global pandemic,
the need for delivery services to avoid in-person shopping
skyrocketed.
According to Dreyfuss, the impetus to create Volt
Deliveries was first inspired by statistics. Finding that 25
per cent of carbon emissions come from the transportation
industry (only second to the production and extraction of oil
in gas, which is largely tied to transportation), he believes
most delivery firms are not committed to making much
of a change to improve their environmental impact. With
zero emission electric cars being a sustainable and now
easily accessible alternative, Dreyfuss believes the market
is ready for a fully electric delivery
service.
Targeting a range of business-to-consumer
deliveries, Volt
Deliveries is Ontario's first and only
entirely electric courier and delivery
service. Partnering with a variety of
local, sustainably minded businesses
paved the way for market entry, and
for many of his delivery recipients, it
also aligns with the consumer- focused
shift to more environmentally conscious
products and services.

But while many of these apps and services for food and
same-day deliveries are impressive showcases of modern
capabilities, there continues to be a downside to it all: lousy
environmental impact.
As the founder of London-based Volt Deliveries
(www.voltdeliveries.com), Noah Dreyfuss has set out to
change that. A Western University graduate, Dreyfuss
launched the business in London mid-pandemic, creating a
completely electric delivery venture and helping to mitigate
the environmental impact of gas- and diesel-fuelled delivery
service vehicles.
" I want to make environmentally friendly alternatives
for anyone needing delivery services, and to keep
prices affordable so that positive environmental impact is
accessible to consumers, " says Dreyfuss.

using his own electric vehicle, a
Chevrolet Bolt, and plans to add
additional vehicles and drivers in the
coming months. He says a goal to begin
offering services beyond London,
particularly in and around the GTA,
pairs nicely with the soon-to-be available
electric delivery vans like GM's
BrightDrop EV600 and EV410, which
will soon to be rolling off the line at GM's CAMI Assembly
Plant in Ingersoll.
" My mission and goals for the company extend beyond
sustainability and its environmental scope, " says Dreyfuss.
" I also want to put a focus toward sustainable business
practices, making sure that employees are well paid and
cared for, and therefore capable of putting themselves into
this mission and helping us grow. "
Dreyfuss invites business interested in partnering to
reach out on their website, and for smaller business without
online or ecommerce needs, he says Volt can also support
more traditional delivery models.
