William " Will " F. Harvey, MD, MSc, FACR
ACR SECRETARY
Dr. Harvey was born and raised in Hershey, PA, and is a
graduate of Penn State University with undergraduate and
medical degrees. He has an MSc in epidemiology from
Boston University, where he did his fellowship, and has called
Boston home for the last 18 years.
A rheumatologist and clinical informatician, Dr. Harvey
served as clinical director of the Division of Rheumatology,
Allergy and Immunology at Tufts Medicine in Boston
for 10 years before moving into a system role as chief
medical informatics officer. He still finds great joy in clinical
practice and his clinical interests include osteoarthritis,
gout, vasculitis, and scleroderma. His research activities
include clinical trials in rheumatology, as well as informatics
research across
the clinical
spectrum. He is
co-director of the
informatics program
at the Tufts Clinical
and Translational Science
Institute.
Dr. Harvey has a long history of volunteering with the ACR,
including chair of the Government Affairs Committee, two
terms on the Board of Directors, and chair of the Registries
and Health Information Technology Committee. He is
honored to serve as ACR Secretary.
Anne Bass, MD
ACR TREASURER
Dr. Bass is a graduate
of Harvard University
and received
her MD at the
Columbia College
of Physicians &
Surgeons. She did
her residency in
internal medicine at
Columbia Presbyterian
Medical Center, followed
by a rheumatology fellowship at
the New York University Medical Center/
Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Bass was affiliated with Yale
New Haven Hospital and Columbia Presbyterian Medical
Center prior to joining the Hospital for Special Surgery
(HSS)/Weill Cornell Medicine in 2000. She served as the
rheumatology fellowship program director from 2008-
2020 and she is currently a professor of clinical medicine.

Dr. Bass' clinical and research interest is in autoimmune
complications of cancer immunotherapy. She co-directs a
large rheumatic immune-related adverse event registry at
HSS and is actively involved in both observational and
translational studies in this area.
Dr. Bass has been deeply involved with the ACR for
many years, serving as chair of the Committee on
Rheumatology Training and Workforce Issues, as a
member of the Board of Directors, and most recently
as chair of the Committee on Ethics and Conflicts of
Interest. She also served on the ACR COVID-19 Vaccine
Guidance Task Force and was the principal investigator
for the 2022 ACR Guideline for Vaccinations in Patients with
Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases. She currently serves
as vice-chair of the National Academy of Science, Engineering
and Medicine Committee to Review Literature on Adverse
Events Associated with Vaccines.
Dr. Bass lives in New York City with her husband, Daniel
Lazare, a journalist. Together, they have brought up four
wonderful girls, Claudia, Sophie, Ticiane, and Luana.
