Choose Rheumatology Scholarship

joint goal of the Rheumatology
Research Foundation and
the American College of
Rheumatology is to increase diverse
representation of professionals
choosing rheumatology as a career
path and to better reflect the diverse
populations of the communities we
serve.
The Foundation and the ACR
launched a new program last year to
award students and residents from
backgrounds underrepresented in
medicine (URiM) with scholarships
to attend and participate in ACR
Convergence. Scholarship recipients
include but are not limited to
students and residents defined as
URiM by the Association of American
Medical Colleges.
Participation in ACR Convergence
introduces the scholars to the
specialty of rheumatology and
rheumatology-related healthcare
in order to better serve patients
with rheumatic and musculoskeletal
diseases. During the meeting,
awardees attend several invite-only
networking and learning opportunities
with other students and residents, as
well as leaders in the rheumatology
community.
Last year's inaugural class included
11 scholarship recipients, and this
year's class has more than doubled
to 28 scholars. Please join us in
congratulating this year's scholarship
recipients.
