cancer. GRASP offers virtual
poster walkthroughs the week
after the conference. This year,
the walkthroughs will take place
on Tuesday and Wednesday,
December 17-18, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m.,
and 6 p.m. In addition to the virtual
Poster Walkthroughs, GRASP
recognizes the power of in-person
connections. For the past three
years, the organization has hosted
an onsite reception on the first
evening of the SABCS®. This year's
GRASP Reception will take place on
Tuesday, December 10, at 6:30 p.m.
on the third-floor Ballroom Level,
room 301, just outside of the Stars
at Night Ballroom.
" The Poster Walkthrough
event started as a pilot in 2019
for around 15 participants and
has turned into an event with
over 120 attendees, including
world-renowned oncologists,
passionate trainees, and
inspiring advocates, " said
Maués. " Advocateled
programs,
such as those by
GRASP and the
longstanding Alamo
Breast Cancer
Foundation program,
play pivotal roles in
enhancing this experience
for advocates. "
Another long-time
research
momentum,
with Komen
staff submitting four posters for
inclusion in the 2024 SABCS®
program, " said Krissa Smith, PhD,
vice president of education at
Komen. " The ability to connect with
researchers, partners, and other
patient advocacy organizations
at the SABCS® has been
key to supporting
our community of
patients with breast
cancer. "
According to Dr.
Smith, the foundation
typically releases a

edition of its video
series, " Breast Cancer

presented over 64 posters
and 44 talks, including
four posters presented
by Komen staff. We're
continuing to build our
Breakthroughs, " on its YouTube
channel (https://www.youtube.
com/@KomenfortheCure). Komen
also posts blog reports of practicechanging
research on social media
throughout the meeting.

gathered at this year's SABCS®. Be

(see page 36) in the Exhibit Hall to
connect with members and learn
about each organization's mission
and history.
" The SABCS® has done a
beautiful job of embracing more
and more advocates in meaningful
and impactful ways, and more
organizations should follow this
model, " Treadwell said. 
