NEW THIS YEAR
The San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium® team works
to provide attendees new opportunities for learning,
growth, and collaboration each year. The featured spaces,
education sessions, and events listed here highlight some
of the novel offerings at the Symposium in 2024.
PATIENT ADVOCACY PAVILION
The new Patient Advocacy
Pavilion, supported by Pfizer,
is where Exhibit Hall visitors
can find nearly 30 attending
patient advocacy organizations
in one convenient location (see
the map on page 36 for the
precise location). Attendees are
encouraged to visit the pavilion to
learn more about these valuable
organizations providing essential
services and resources for
patients and providers.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial intelligence (AI) has
dominated the discourse across
many industries in 2024. A pair of
back-to-back sessions on Thursday,
December 12, will help attendees
understand the powerful potential
and important limitations of this
emerging technology.
At 2 p.m. on Thursday, State of
the Art: Revolutionizing Diagnosis
and Discovery with Artificial
Intelligence will explore how
AI can be leveraged in imaging
and screening, as well as drug

discoveries through deep learning
and large data management.
Immediately after, Educational
Session 9: Artificial Intelligence
in the Clinic will cover clinical
applications of AI, along with
important hazards to avoid.
SEX, DRUGS, ROCK AND ROLL
The SABCS® prides itself in
providing timely educational
offerings on the latest research and
clinical advancements. This year
features several sessions covering
emerging and novel topics critical to
Symposium attendees.
Special Session 3: Sex, Drugs,
Rock and Roll is one of the special
sessions that will kick off the
Symposium at noon on Tuesday,
December 10. This brand-new session
is tailored to spotlight important
topics that may not always be front
and center in discussions about
breast cancer treatment.
Speakers will address supplement
and cannabis use, explore
considerations related to sexual
health and exercise, and
examine how alcohol
intake affects the risk of recurrence
and treatment outcomes. A panel
discussion will provide additional
perspectives from breast cancer
scientists and a patient advocate.
SABCS® CELEBRATION
The SABCS® invites all attendees
of the 2024 Symposium to the
inaugural SABCS® Celebration
for an evening of refreshments,
relaxation, and live music.
The Celebration will be held
after the conclusion of sessions on
Thursday, December 12, from
8 - 10:30 p.m. in the Texas
Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt San
Antonio Hotel, next door to the
Henry B. Gonzalez Convention
Center. Attendees will be treated
to a festive atmosphere, complete
with a complimentary beverage
and appetizers, while they enjoy
live entertainment from New Wave
tribute band The Spazmatics.
Sporting bowties, plaid pants, taped
glasses, and pocket protectors, The
Spazmatics transport audiences
back to the 1980s through style and
sound, playing covers of familiar
songs that never fail to get crowds
singing and dancing.
