Description
GDP at purchaser's prices is the sum of gross value added by all
resident producers in the economy plus any product taxes and
minus any subsidies not included in the value of the products. It is
calculated without making deductions for depreciation of
fabricated assets or for depletion and degradation of natural
resources. GDP in 2019 was obtained per country.

The employed comprise all persons of working age who, during a
specified brief period, were in one of the following categories: a)
paid employment (whether at work or with a job but not at work);
or b) self-employment (whether at work or with an enterprise but
not at work). Data on the number of people employed were
obtained per country for 2019.

The ratio between total labour income and GDP (a measure of
total output), both provided in nominal terms. Labour income
includes the compensation of employees and part of the income
of the self-employed. Self-employed workers earn from both their
work and capital ownership. Total compensation of employees
refers to the remuneration, in cash or in kind, payable by an
enterprise to an employee in return for work done by the latter
during the accounting period. The labour income of self-employed
is imputed based on a statistical analysis of employees of similar
characteristics. Data on the labour income share of GDP were
obtained per country for the most recent year available: 2017.

The number of persons who are employed as a proportion of the
total working age population. Employment comprises all persons
of working age who during a specified brief period, such as one
week or one day, were in the following categories: a) paid

at work). Data on the employment-to-population ratio were
obtained per country for 2019 and for age groups in five-year

Country-specific estimates of the monetary value of unpaid family
domestic work and unpaid family childcare work as a proportion
of GDP. Values for Bulgaria, Croatia, Israel, Montenegro, Norway,
Romania, Serbia, Switzerland and Turkey were imputed based on
median earnings for elementary occupations, time spent on
unpaid domestic and care work and GDP per capita.

The annual rate of growth in output per worker averaged over the
period from 2004 to 2017 for which data were available and over
the 31 countries of interest. This resulted in G = 2.93%
The cumulative probabilities of survival by age and country in 2019
were calculated from Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 Life
Tables.
Estimated numbers of deaths and years of healthy life lost due to
disability were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study
for 12 categories of digestive diseases per country in 2019 and for
age groups in five-year intervals between 15-84 years.
