As part of their newest projects, the Friends of YTG ensured that
the highly valued Career Development would also take place
again in 2023. This year's focus encompassed two key topics:
" Academia & research - How to get into an academic pathway "
and " Connect & Collaborate - How to network effectively "
. More than 350 enrolled in the two courses to explore
curated resources, chosen to empower them in their professional
journeys. A select group of ca. 60 individuals participated
in the advanced levels, including live webinars, personalised
mentoring through online calls, and in-person meetups during
UEG Week 2023.

In 2023, another noteworthy event was the Young GI Webinar,
focusing on the topic " Building your medical toolbox: Endoscopy "
.
During this session, experts revealed techniques for
resolving technical challenges and navigating day-to-day cases
in urgent endoscopy. They showcased inventive solutions for
common endoscopic issues and provided insights into addressing
complications that may arise during endoscopy.

UEG Week 2023 also held the revival of " Let's meet " , a special
social event tailored for young congress delegates to engage in
casual conversations and networking. Furthermore, the Young
GI Mentoring persisted, celebrating its 10th
iteration, as experts
convened with small groups of young delegates, offering guidance
on navigating the congress programme, understanding
session formats, and addressing other relevant matters. Lastly,
the new " Learn from Leaders " sessions proved popular among
young delegates, providing an enjoyable avenue to glean insights
on various topics such as effective paper writing, EU grant
applications, and more.
UEG has also maintained its Talent Pool. This platform continues
to offer emerging talents the opportunity to apply for
participation in ongoing activities. Over the past several years,
this initiative has enabled talented specialists to ascend to
prominent positions in various capacities within UEG.
Finally, the Young Talent Group remained active in disseminating
articles tailored for young digestive health specialists in the
Young GI Blog and in UEG Journal through the " Young GI Angle "
series.
