from the Bank of America Foundation
to examine how to activate urban open
spaces. We have also seen donations
to support the work of the District
Councils network, including $1.65 million
from the Walton Family Foundation
targeting housing activities through ULI
Northwest Arkansas.
I would be remiss if I did not recognize
Jim Curtis, the former ULI Foundation
chair for whom our planned
giving society is named. When Curtis
passed in 2019, he left a bequest that
created the Curtis Infrastructure Initiative,
which is already making a visible
difference in our cities. As you plan
your future, please consider including
the ULI Foundation in your estate
plans. We now have 28 members in
the James J. Curtis Society, with documented
planned gifts from members
including Greg Vogel, Connie Moore,
Peter Rummell, Randy Rowe, and
Sandy Apgar.
While we are incredibly grateful to
the donors who have made such large
contributions to our work, we would
also like to recognize the generosity
shown by so many members who have
contributed through the ULI Foundation's
Annual Fund. This fundraising
drive brings in critical funding from
thousands of members and staff
to support a multitude of programs
designed to have impact on communities.
Without this support, we could be
forced to scale back or abandon many
of these activities.
All of this marks an extraordinary
year for the ULI Foundation, with over
$29 million of new funding secured.
These additional resources will be
invaluable as we focus on our three
mission priorities-decarbonizing
the real estate sector and accelerating
progress to net zero; educating
the next generation of diverse real
estate leaders; and increasing housing
attainability in communities around
the world. The funds will allow us to
deliver more programs at a faster rate,
enabling us to accelerate the impact
we make in our communities. UL
