will also be rolling out the revised and
updated version of UrbanPlan, our
unique experiential program that connects
high school and college students
with the real estate industry.
ULI continues to focus on our goals
to increase the diversity of our membership.
Engaging a broader cross section
of our communities will continue
to be an important element of our
members' efforts in this area.
Just as important, we seek to lead
the industry in creating more inclusive
and equitable communities. Our recent
publication Ten Principles for Embedding
Racial Equity in Real Estate Development
(page 23) outlines the steps
that developers, investors, and other
practitioners can take today to achieve
that objective. Each principle includes
specific best practices that can be
applied to different sectors, markets,
and geographies.
When we established our mission
priorities last year, we recognized that
achieving our desired level of success
would be a multiyear effort. We are
committed to making a tangible difference
on these issues, and we are
confident that our work was appropriately
summarized by the tagline
we introduced at the Spring Meeting:
" ULI-Where the Future Is Built. "
The tagline speaks to ULI's mind-set
of a higher purpose, bringing together
research, education, thought leadership,
and hands-on experience to
share knowledge around the world. It
also encompasses our reach across
disciplines and generations, and our
mission to change the world we live in
for the better-one project at a time,
one community at a time, connecting
the local to the global.
I hope you join us in this incredibly
important effort. What ULI achieves
is what our members achieve. Please
look for ways to be more involved at
any level of our organization. Aligned
together, the strength of ULI will have
significant impact on our communities.
