The Blackwood Program in Real Estate in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech is a comprehensive,
interdisciplinary academic program that builds on existing strengths in three colleges, offering real estate
courses that integrate the material students learn in other disciplinary courses such as finance, law, and property
management. The integration occurs through a university-industry partnership where real estate professionals
are actively involved in students' education through guest lectures, mentoring experiences, and by providing
internship opportunities. Students can choose between several real estate majors.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to complete a minimum of 120 credit hours for the real estate major, which includes a
second major or minor related to real estate. Required classes include, but are not limited to: Principles of Real
Estate, Careers in Real Estate, Real Estate Data Analysis, Professional Development in Real Estate, Applied Real
Estate Development, Real Estate Market Analysis, Financing Real Estate Projects, Real Estate Studio, Real Estate
Law, and Managing and Leasing Commercial Properties. Examples of other courses available for students to
take include Estate Appraisal, Building Construction Principles, Real Estate Marketing, Business Writing, and
Multifamily Property Management and Operations.

For a full-time in-state student, the
combined Fall and Spring tuition
cost for 2022-2023 is $14,666.
For an out-of-state student, the
combined Fall and Spring tuition cost
is $34,920. These numbers do not
include room and board expenses.

In 2022, the Blackwood Program in Real Estate ranked number one for Best Bachelor's in Real Estate by
Bachelor's Degree Center and number five for Best Real Estate Bachelor's Degree Schools by College Factual.
