HopeWorks Station North provides comprehensive supportive housing, social services
for residents, and job reentry programs in a highly sustainable building produced
with significant embodied and operational carbon-reduction strategies. The
0.6-acre (0.2 ha) site includes the 44,250-square-foot (4,110 sq m) building, which
contains a main commercial lobby and café and 65 units of housing for low-income
residents and those formerly experiencing homelessness. The jury commended
HopeWorks Station North for addressing major challenges facing the industry today:
sustainability and housing. The development achieves impressive sustainability
goals while providing housing as well as on-site job training and services for its lowincome
and formerly homeless residents.
Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park

The Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park is a first-of-its-kind,
immersive exhibit. The project features a 32,000-square-foot (3,000 sq m) facility
containing a 15,000-square-foot (1,400 sq m) immersive walk-through experience,
classrooms, event space, offices, a lounge, dressing rooms, a kitchen, and storage.
The facility is located within a seven-acre (2.8 ha) site that includes native
plant discovery trails, animal sculptures, tipi camps, gathering places, arbors, and
open-ended opportunities for interpretive programming and events. The Indigenous
Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park offers an extraordinary example of how
to respectfully address and teach about the history and cultures of First Nations and
the Métis people. The jury praised the project for centering Native voices in every
aspect and recognized the great impact it has had in Edmonton and beyond.
Meyer Memorial Trust Headquarters

The new Meyer Memorial Trust headquarters is a direct reflection of the foundation's
commitment to equity and sustainability. The 19,800-square-foot (1,800 sq m) building
includes an engagement center, the Mission Library, a lunchroom with a roof
garden terrace, workspace for 50, meeting rooms, and collaborative workspace for
partners. Development of the 0.6-acre (0.24 ha) brownfield parcel involved participation
from staff at every step. The design incorporates diversity in many ways, including
participation by high levels of BIPOC- and women-owned businesses-39 percent
for the design team and 47 percent for the construction. The jury applauded that
Meyer Memorial Trust's headquarters reflected the equity-driven mission of the organization,
from its location in the community it seeks to serve to its locally sourced
sustainable materials and the inclusion of diverse and minority voices at all levels of
the project design and construction.
