Situated on 72 acres (29 ha) of Microsoft's Redmond, Washington headquarters,
East Campus demonstrates green infrastructure and wellness applications in constructing
new buildings and data centers. In alignment with the company's carbon
negative by 2030 goal, the building uses geothermal heat exchange, green and
solar roofs, and rainwater reuse, among other sustainability strategies. East Campus
welcomes the public and includes a pedestrian bridge over a highway that connects
bike paths and alternative transportation.
Lincoln Common

SITE SIZE: 6.6 acres (2.7 ha)
Lincoln Common transformed the site of a former children's hospital into a 1.1
million-square-foot (445,154 sq m) mixed-use development. The project's commercial
success and integration into the low-rise community are the result of communityinformed
master planning. The design models adaptive use, with new architecture
and historical preservation. Sustainability efforts include LEED certification and
reprocessing 100 percent of the concrete from the former hospital. In addition to
retail, residential, and office, there is a senior living facility and one acre (0.4 ha) of
connected open spaces.
Mill Creek Valley-Pillars of the Valley

Site Size: 0.67 acres (0.27 ha)
Pillars of the Valley is an artistic intervention located on the Brickline Greenway. The
site is on the former Mill Creek Valley neighborhood that was displaced after demolition
in the 1950s. The installation features granite pillars engraved with quotes from
former residents of the vibrant, historically Black neighborhood. The project models
how urban planning centered on social equity transforms communities.
