Goodlife Makan is a replicable social space managed by Montfort Care; a social
welfare organization focused on comprehensive aging. Located in the void deck of
public housing flats, the recreational center features a communal kitchen at its core.
The development's people-centered design includes an open-plan interior, vibrant
colors, and universal iconography. Makan, a Malay word meaning " to eat, " reflects
the design's emphasis on food preparation and consumption as a means of fostering
social connections and joy among the elderly and the broader community.
Huangyan Canal Urban Rejuvenation
TAIZHOU, CHINA

SITE SIZE: 62.76 acres (25.4 ha)
The Huangyan Canal Urban Rejuvenation project used a collaborative approach to
transform a degraded historic canal into a vibrant greenway system. The project
integrates ecological and community-centric elements, representing a visionary
approach to sustainable urban renewal. The coherent and circular waterfront connection
fosters community interaction and creates economically lively city destinations.
By improving water quality and preserving heritage, the project showcases a commitment
to sustainability.
Jubilee Place
BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
YEAR OPENED: 2022

DEVELOPERS: JGL Properties
DESIGNERS: Blight Rayner Architecture
SITE SIZE: 4.5 acres (1.8 ha)
Jubilee Place integrates an NLA office building with a refurbished and extended heritage
hotel, creating a dynamic new urban landscape. Cantilevering the office building
over the historic hotel enabled large floor plates to generate a vibrant ground
plane that integrates workplace and leisure with the interconnected office building
and new beer garden. This unique arrangement also enabled a dynamic roof garden
canopy which is a distinctive feature on the skyline. The highly sustainable development
is powered entirely by solar and wind generation.
