Port St. Lucie evolved from a large undeveloped piece of land best known for a fishing camp and it's wide open
and vast ranching lands. In 1958, land along the north fork of the St. Lucie River was purchased and so began a
system of residential development that today makes Port St. Lucie one of the fastest-growing cities in Florida.
Despite urban growth, the city's natural attributes along the St. Lucie River preserve an old-Florida feel.
The city's vast and diverse districts weave together a beautiful and growing community that is also home to
New York Mets Spring Training games and the famous PGA Village that includes 54 holes of supreme golf.
Some of the area local's favorite events are found in the Port District, the MIDFLORIDA Event Center and
Tradition. Listen to live music and enjoy food vendors during the city's " River Nights " event series taking place
on the second Thursday of every month. Tradition plays hosts to such events as the Tradition Neighborhood
Market, a farmers market held every Saturday, and the annual Taste of Italy Festival every March. MIDFLORIDA
Event Center hosts a variety of festivals, music concerts, cultural events and so much more.
