Welcome to a new
year and also, to a
slightly different
" look " in your
electric-cooperative
publication. This shift
in design and content
is something we like to
do periodically to keep
Cooperative Living fresh.
You may notice some changes in
appearance, such as, for example, this
table-of-contents page. Things like type
fonts and design have been altered
incrementally to maintain and enhance,
we hope, ease of reading.
There are also some content
differences, such as the new Crossroads
feature. This will appear each issue and
profile the character of and the
characters in a small community
somewhere in or near electriccooperative
service territory in Virginia.
It's a sort of natural outgrowth of its
predecessors, the Down Home and
Stories from the Road serial features.
Our recipes page has also evolved
slightly. Reader Recipes is now
Commonwealth Kitchen.We'll still
feature some reader recipes, but the
feature's focus will be broadened to
provide a more expansive horizon of
culinary reading possibilities. Some other
regular features, such as our energyefficiency
column, have also changed.
Patrick Keegan is our new energyefficiency
writer and his regularly
appearing column, Energy Sense,
replaces Wise Energy Use.
You may notice other minor design
and content tweaks in this and coming
issues. The idea is to have Cooperative
Living's visual effect maximize the
reading experience for you.
As our " freshening-up " effort evolves
this year, we welcome comments from
you, our reader, on the look and feel
of your magazine. You can send them
