anuary is the perfect month to
usher out the old and welcome in
the new. As of Jan. 1, Cooperative
Living magazine's website debuts a
fresh, new look - created with your
needs in mind.
You'll still be able to do everything
you were able to do last year, but we've
added a lot of great new features and
many new tools.
" Our website was over 17 years old,
so it was time for a facelift. It's now a
Cooperative Living lifestyle site. While
we will still showcase the publication
and all of the great content you have
always enjoyed, there will be much
more web-exclusive content, " explains
Tommy Campbell, design & e-media
coordinator for the Virginia, Maryland
& Delaware Association of Electric
Cooperatives, publisher of Cooperative
Living magazine.
The new website features extra
information on stories of interest and
additional content on some of your
favorite topics, such as energy-saving
tips, recipes and cooking information,
and much more. The new site also
integrates video, social media and
other digital sources to enhance your
online experience.
Cooperative Living's website continues
to be a community resource - a place
where you can go to find a variety of
links to various community
resources in your local area.
From the new website, you
have quick and easy access to
your local electric cooperative,
as well as access to the latest updates
and outage maps from your cooperative
in the Co-op News & Calendar tab.
We've compiled links to your chamber of
commerce, your local tourism
bureau, county libraries
and schools, business
information,
government offices,
and much more under

the Community Resources section of the
website. You can browse your Community
links together in one place.
Among the most convenient features of
Cooperative Living's website is the ability to
contact us with all your comments, questions
and concerns through the website. We always
enjoy hearing from our readers, whether it's
through postal mail, via email or through
our new website. We want to know which
columns and articles you enjoy reading
the most, or which ones you enjoy reading
the least. And - who knows - you might
just see your comments printed in the
Mailbag section of the magazine in
the next issue.
Another important feature is the ability
to do searches for content directly from our
home page with the search tool at the top
of the page. The archives have also been
updated to make it even easier to search
for past material in the magazine that may
have caught your eye. We offer you the
capability to search by the front cover
image or by the month and year of the
issue in question.
New additions to the easy-to-navigate
website include web-only content that will
be added to the website all month long, as
well as additional recipes, gardening tips,
local news and much more.
The new website continues to be the place
where readers can submit answers to regular
contests found in each issue, along with
online-only contests that will run throughout
the year. You're also able to submit your
favorite photos for our popular readerphoto
column, Say Cheese, quickly and
easily through our new website.
We want our new website to enhance your
reading experience of the print publication.
" When you click on an article that was
published in Cooperative Living magazine,
you may find that article with additional
web-only content, such as more photos,
videos, links that relate to the story or upto-date
follow-ups with new information.
We're very excited to reveal our new website
to our readers, " Campbell says.
Under our Co-op Education section,
visitors can find an assortment of
information about the cooperative way
of doing business, facts about the many
different types of cooperatives around the
country, and about the electric utility
industry. With easy-to-scan content and
attractive graphics, this section is a useful
source of information for anyone who
wants to know what their local
cooperative is all about. The compiled
information and data are gathered from
various sources, such as the National
Rural Electric Cooperative Association
and the National Rural Utilities
Cooperative Finance Corporation.
