ach year thousands of high school
seniors from electric cooperative
territory in Virginia, Maryland
and Delaware go about the important
and daunting business of planning their
futures. Many have their hearts set on
college or trade school, but family
finances make this challenging. There is
help available!
The Virginia, Maryland & Delaware
Association of Electric Cooperatives
Educational Scholarship Foundation
awards grants each year to students
from across our three-state service territory.
These awards are based on financial
need and academic achievement, so
the awards always go to deserving students.
We only wish we could grant
MORE awards.
These students aspire to become
nurses, mechanics, teachers, counselors,
farmers, business leaders and to take on
numerous other roles vital to our communities.
So many of them have already
accomplished amazing goals. They just
need us to invest in their futures.
Since our first year of awarding
scholarships in 2001, a total of
$416,500 has been given out! That is a
lot of money, but we have had well over
2,000 applications come in to us in that
time. We can do more with your help.
If you would like a completely painless
way to support students from cooperative
territories go to college or trade
school, we have it! If you shop online
from Amazon, you can help with just a
few extra mouse clicks!
Here's how it works. The next time
you go to shop at Amazon, go to
smile.amazon.com.
You will be asked to put in your
email address and your Amazon password.
If you do not have an Amazon
account, you can set up one on this
page. If you have an Amazon account
and can't remember the password, just

put in your email address and click " forgot
your password. " You will be allowed
to reset your password.
Once into the site, you will ask to
" Select a Charitable Organization to
Start Shopping. " A charity may be suggested
for you, but you can scroll down
to a field that allows you to pick your
own charitable organization. Here is
where the helping starts! Type VMDAEC
into that field and click " search. "
The VMDAEC Educational
Scholarship Foundation will come up.
You may then click " Select " and start
shopping. You will receive a screen
notice that your purchase will support
the VMDAEC Educational Scholarship
Foundation.
After you
have registered
to use
AmazonSmile,
you will receive
an email that
will inform you
that Amazon will now donate 0.5 percent
of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases
to the VMDAEC Scholarship
Foundation.
