ProjectHero ELECTRIC CO-OPS SUPPORT PROJECT HERO MEMORIAL CHALLENGE RIDE Greg White, CEO of Northern Neck Electric Cooperative, (front right) and Humberto Reyna (front left, on recumbent bike) head toward a rest stop at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond during this year's Project Hero United Healthcare Memorial Challenge ride May 30 through June 1. Virginia's electric cooperatives supported the ride, which covered nearly 200 miles through central and eastern Virginia. Project Hero is dedicated to helping veterans and firstresponders affected by post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic-brain injury and physical injury achieve rehabilitation, recovery and resilience in their daily lives. Virginia's electric cooperatives help with this effort in a variety of ways, from financial support to logistical assistance. White was a support rider for his friend Reyna, a former North Carolina State Trooper who sustained a severe brain-trauma injury while on duty in 2009. White and Reyna met during the Memorial Challenge ride in 2015 and have been friends since. 6 | Cooperative Living | July 2018 www.co-opliving.comhttp://www.co-opliving.com
