have dogs become
known as man's
best friend.
Many people
would say, in fact,
that there's no
companion like a
canine companion
(with apologies, of
course, to cat lovers!).
If you've ever had a pet dog, you
probably know all about this. A dog will
lift your spirits. No matter how bad your
day has been the dog will greet you with
a canine smile and a wagging tail. And
the dog never cares how your hair looks
or what you're wearing. The dog is just
happy to see you.
This issue's cover story features a
pair of golden retrievers involved in
spreading joy through the therapy
dog program. Skipper and Tucker are
real characters who love to ham it up,
appearing often in a variety of
interesting costumes.
If you're a regular reader of Cooperative
Living and its popular Say Cheese
feature, you've probably seen Skipper
and Tucker. Their family, Lynn and Doug
Peters, have often submitted photos of
the pair in character, and they've often
been featured in Say Cheese.
Such a talented pair of pooches are
a natural for a story on how canine
companionship can provide therapy
for a variety of human needs.
Preston Knight, public-relations
representative for Shenandoah Valley
Electric Cooperative, wrote the story
about Lynn and Doug and their pooches,
who are members of Shenandoah
Valley Electric Cooperative.
" They're friendly, happy dogs, " says
Preston. " And they know when it's time
to get down to business ... they're really
tuned in to Lynn and what their job is
as therapy dogs. Lynn's very proud of
them, and the work they do, with
good reason. "
Folks like Lynn and Doug, and their
tail-wagging friends Skipper and Tucker,
make the world a better place. 

work. Their efforts have created a locomotive of good will in the northern Shenandoah
Valley and beyond.

gathering of prominent colonists at Bray's
Church in February of 1766 ultimately resulted
