DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS?
was Lt. Gen. Lewis B. " Chesty " Puller
(1898-1971). Born in West Point, Puller
grew up listening to stories of the Civil War
told by his relatives. He attended Virginia
Military Institute but left to serve in the U.S.
Marine Corps during World War I.
Afterwards, he attended the USMC's noncommissioned
officer school and Officer
Candidates School in Quantico. Puller
served as a lieutenant in Haiti and
Guatemala fighting guerillas. He led
Marines in some of the bloodiest battles of
World War II, including Guadalcanal and Peleliu. He was the
commander of the 1st Marines in the Korean War. During his
service career, Puller was awarded five Navy Crosses and one
Army Distinguished Service Cross. He served for 37 years and
retired in 1955. Puller is known for his motto, " lead by
example. " He is the most decorated Marine in American

READER NOT AMUSED
While browsing through the May
2019 issue of Cooperative Living, I
read the PunToons! and couldn't
believe what I was reading! How
disrespectful and distasteful to even
consider using such a controversial
and monumental women's rights
victory! This " PUN " is such a
degrading and dismissive message
to women. You should be ashamed
of yourselves!

AN ISSUE WITH MARGO
This is sad, but true. I have wanted
to comment earlier. I believe Margo
Oxendine should get a new dog. Her
column has lost appeal since she lost
Brownie. It seems she has a lack of
respect for other animals.
