ere's a way to cool off with
a sweet treat and spread
the word about your
favorite ice cream hangout.
During July and August, visit
any of the spots listed on our
ice cream trail. Snap a pic -
a selfie is fine - of you or your
family eating ice cream in front
of the shop. Make sure the store
can be identified in some way
in the photo.
Then email the photo, along
with your name, hometown,
store and your chosen flavor
to icecream@co-opliving.com.
We'll post the best on our Facebook
page at facebook.com/cooperative
living. We will use the hashtag
#IceCreamCL throughout.
At the end of August, we'll
take all the entries and choose
a random winner for a $100 gift
card (to be spent on ice cream,
natch). One picture per store,
please - we want you to sample
a variety of establishments.

Ice Cream in a Bag

Ingredients:
½ cup whole milk or cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons salt
Ice
1 gallon zip-style bag
1 zip-style sandwich bag
Favorite toppings
(fruit, sprinkles, chocolate, etc.)
Directions:
Pour whole milk or cream into sandwich bag, adding in sugar and vanilla.
Remove air from bag and zip seal firmly. Fill the gallon bag 2/3 full with
ice and add salt. Place the sealed sandwich bag containing the milk or
cream mixture into the gallon bag of ice. Close the large bag and shake
for 5-7 minutes until the contents of the sandwich bag appears thick.
Remove sandwich bag and rinse the outside of the bag to remove salt.
Open sandwich bag and scoop out the ice cream. Add your favorite
toppings and enjoy!
Green Creamsicle Smoothie

Ingredients:
¼ cup milk
1 seedless orange, peeled
1 cup baby spinach, lightly packed
½ banana, peeled
Directions:
Place milk in blender; add orange (broken into quarters if desired), spinach and banana.
Blend on high until smooth. Add frozen yogurt, blend until combined. Garnish with fresh
fruit and spinach skewer, if desired. One serving.

June is Dairy Month!
The most widely recognized dairy cow is the Holstein, which has black and white spots.
The spots are similar to people's fingerprints in that no two cows have the same pattern
of spots. Dairy farmers milk their cows at least twice a day. One cow produces 128 glasses
of milk a day. Visit agintheclass.org to help connect children to agriculture.
