 DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS IS?
Our September 2017 History Mystery
subject was Wayne Newton (born 1942).
Born in Norfolk to parents of Native
American ancestry, this singer and
entertainer spent his early years in
Roanoke, where by age 6 he'd learned
to play piano and guitar. His childhood
asthma led the family to move to
Phoenix, Arizona, where his career got
its start after a Las Vegas booking agent
saw Newton perform on a local TV show.
One of the best-known entertainers in Las Vegas, Newton is
perhaps best known for his song " Danke Shoen " that was
used in the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
