weekend of Oct. 4-5, where the 17th Annual
Harvest Days Farm Tour offers visitors a frontrow
view of the diverse agricultural enterprises
that remain an important part of the area's economy.
Experience a live animal and farm equipment
auction, climb aboard antique tractors
and pick up free giveaways for the kids.
Experience a " day on the farm " Oct. 11 during
the 19th Annual Fauquier Fall Farm Tour,
where you can watch everything from cowmilking
to wool spinning to vineyard tours
while learning about modern agriculture. Get
lost in a corn maze, savor homemade ice cream
or watch a demonstration polo match.
Celebrating their 38th Annual Fall Festival
on Oct. 11, the City of Fairfax welcomes you to
Old Town Fairfax for this fabulous event. What
started as a small community event has grown to
over 400 arts and crafts vendors, food and gourmet
food vendors, children's activities and four
stages of music and entertainment for all ages.
In Southern Virginia on Oct. 11, head over
to Alberta for The Taste of Brunswick Festival
& Stew Cookoff. If you love Brunswick stew,
this is a must! In addition to authentic stew, featured
acts include James King, Mark Templeton
& Pocket Change and The Willis River Band.
Members of the TV show " Lizard Lick Towing "
will be there to meet and greet. Also, lots of
things for children, including bouncy rides,
petting zoo, pony rides, baby chickens, pedal
tractor pull, mechanical bull and sandbox.
On Sunday, Oct. 12, enjoy a Taste of
Culpeper by sampling the very best in local
cuisine, spirits from 11 Virginia wineries and
three microbreweries while exploring local artisans
work. Live music that afternoon will feature
a " Battle of the Bands. "
The Blue Ridge Mountains provide the perfect
backdrop for the 6th Annual Wine and
Unwind Wine Festival, Oct. 19 at the Salem
Civic Center. Bring a blanket or lawn chair,
then relax, savor and swirl as you sample fabulous
food and Virginia's best wines. Later, dance
to music by Stone Canyon Band or shop for
artisan crafts.
Or, drive south near Brookneal and check
out Red Hill's Nov. 1 Bluegrass, Barbeque and
Brew Festival. The last home of Patrick Henry,
Virginia's first elected governor known as the
" Voice of the American Revolution, " Red Hill
will celebrate Southern Virginia heritage with
local culinary favorites, craft beverages and
bluegrass music.
What better place to experience the
Commonwealth's spectacular fall foliage than at
a Virginia State Park, with many parks offering
overnight facilities. Celebrate Appalachian
Heritage at the Grayson Highlands Fall
Festival on Sept. 27, or check out Douthat
State Park's Apple Day on Oct. 8, with craft
demonstrations as well as apple butter making.
Yet another option is a last trip to the coast,
where Kiptopeke State Park on Virginia's
Eastern Shore will host the 22nd Annual
Eastern Shore Birding and Wildlife Festival,
Oct. 10-12. Take in the splendor as North
America's birds fly south during their annual
migration, along with children's programs and
boat tours.
Located just 30 miles from the nation's capital,
historic downtown Manassas boasts a
superb variety of shops, museums, galleries and
restaurants as well as a robust calendar of festivals
and events. Their 32nd Annual Fall
Jubilee will be held Oct. 4 with lots of crafters,
entertainment and more to see.

There's something exciting planned for every
weekend this fall in Sevierville, Tenn., home to
October's month-long Smoky Mountain
Harvest Festival.
Spotsylvania Tourism invites you to shop till
you drop at festivals, outdoor markets and
bazaars while visiting its family-friendly parks,
museums and National Parks. The Holiday
Spirits Festival on Nov. 15 features four awardwinning
wineries, including Lake Anna and
Mattaponi wineries, local breweries and A.
Smith Bowman Distillery along with unique,
specialty craft vendors with everything you
need to finish up your Christmas shopping.
This indoor festival is held in the historic FMC
Plant that kept the region going during the
Depression.
