the Virginia Peanut Festival. This
annual celebration of " goober peas "
dates back to 1962 and continues to be
a family-friendly event with live music,
beauty pageants, Civil War re-enactments,
hay rides and more. On
Saturday the parade gets underway at
11 a.m. with marching bands and a
spectacular car show. Afternoon entertainment
includes pony rides and a
Civil War exhibit, with a gigantic fireworks
display at 9 p.m. and live music
until 11.
South Boston's Harvest Festival on
Sept. 26 offers three stages of continuous
live musical entertainment on historic
downtown streets, along with a
farmers market and wares from 100
local merchants, artists, restaurants and
organizations, plus pumpkin-decorating
and scarecrow-making activities for the
kids.
Also on Sept. 26, join Waynesboro's
Coyner Springs Kite Fly from 10 a.m.
until 3 p.m. Don't have a kite? No worries!
Over 300 will be given away. Pack
up your family and a picnic basket,
then take in professional kite-flying
performances, go on an old-fashioned
hay ride, or sling an apple in our applechuckin'
contest.
On Oct. 3, taste the difference freshness
makes at Miller Farm's Taste of
the Market open house, from 11 a.m.
until 4 p.m. The same day, Historic
Manassas is hosting their 33rd Annual
Fall Jubilee and featuring live entertainment
for both kids and adults. This
free community event will also highlight
over 100 crafter and community
booths! The same weekend, Oct. 3-4,
Culpeper County offers visitors a frontrow
view of the diverse agricultural
enterprises that remain an important
