I knew she would order the POTUS Platter, filet mignon (however, without the wild mushrooms, blue
cheese and fried oysters). You see, she has always been a meat-and-potatoes girl ... what a shame! Well,
you guessed it, even after all this time, I was wrong again. Yes, again. She ordered curried salmon with
ginger, tomatoes, paneer cheese cauliflower rice and fresh spinach with light curry sauce. Never, and I
mean never, in our long relationship has she ever had curry sauce. She loved it! What can I say except
I must have missed something along the way.
Well, my plate is much more predictable. After all, the Kilmarnock Inn rests in the blossom of the
Chesapeake Bay with the world's best bounty of seafood. I ordered the sea scallops nestled on polenta
cakes topped with pickled snap peas and orange gastrique. The scallops were so tender and tasty.
Another entrée I plan to order on my next trip will be the Kilmarnock Inn Signature Crab Cake.
This dish also comes with Parmesan risotto. Another dish that looked interesting was rockfish and
crab. Oh, my! There is so much to choose from and so little time. Such is the curse of my inquisitive
taste buds!

In my articles, I don't usually talk about libations. However, this time I must. I often find that
imaginative hospitality czars can create some interesting Bloody Mary cocktails. The inn has done
this by offering a Bloody Mary meal. As you can see from the picture, it is not an understatement.
What a treat!
So as I headed back to Richmond from Kilmarnock, I could only envision the ideal, laid back, tummypleasing
weekend. Stay at the inn and enjoy its imaginative and delicious meals. I should also mention
that if you stay at the inn, you will be rewarded with your selection from numerous breakfast items such as
Blue Crab Benedict. This dish is served with both chunks of fresh crabmeat and Virginia ham, two of my
favorite food groups.
