cheese. The portion was large but I was
left wanting more. While the restaurant
has a fine dining feel the dress code was
somewhat casual.
For offsite experiences, the famous
Space Needle is the biggest draw. Right
around the corner, EMP Museum was
opened in 2000 by Microsoft co-founder
Paul Allen.
The museum is an interactive
Shangri-La dedicated to the history of music
and science fiction. This is a perfect place
for groups to come and rock out to Hendrix
in one of the five meeting places including a
large movie theater.
It's located in the middle of The
Seattle Center where groups can also visit
the Pacific Science Center, Seattle Opera,
Northwest Ballet and the Seattle Repertory
Theatre. The Columbia Center is also an
amazing spot to host a party. Its Sky View
Observatory is over 900 feet in the air with 360-degree views.
Pike Place Market is another Seattle gem. This is one
of America's oldest markets and the home of the very first
Starbucks. The good people of Seattle Food Tours can take
your group on a walking tour of the market where you will learn
all about the rich history and why there's an entire alley wall filled
with chewing gum. In the underground you will find some cool
old shops where you can buy fine art and fun trinkets.
On the shores of Elliott bay, the newly opened Seattle
Great Wheel lifts people 200 feet into the air for a spectacular
sunset view of East Seattle across the water. Nearby, The
Waterfront Arcade is one of the oldest arcades in America,
perfect for teambuilding over a game of Ms. Pacman.
A little further south along the bay, the Seattle Aquarium
has some options to get groups out on the water. You can take a
luxurious dinner cruise with Argosy Cruises or take a skippered
sailing excursion with Lets Go Sailing.
Or, Kenmore Air offers seaplane tours around Seattle. They
also do special package excursions including sportfishing and
whale watching.
For offsite dining, The 5 Spot is a cool seaport diner at the
top of the Queen Ann Hill. Try the Memphis Blues smokey BBQ
pork sandwich and save room for the tequila-spiked key lime
pie. Bell Deli is a block away from The Edgewater and serves
one of the best French dip sandwiches in Seattle. Siren Song
was recommended as a "perfect" wine tasting room, available for
private rental.
Savor Seattle offers a 2-hour "Booze n' Bites" tour of
Seattle's bohemian Capitol Hill area where your group can visit
some of Seattle's hippest spots.
THE EDGEWATER
Seattle hotel combines urban/eco vibes

erched over Elliott Bay in Puget Sound at Pier 67 in
Seattle, The Edgewater hotel celebrates Northwestern
woodsy chic the moment you step in the lobby below
an enormous deer antler chandelier. A fire in the massive stone
fireplace is burning throughout much of the year. The rich black
leather chairs surround a polished Douglas Fir coffee table, and
the enormous panel window facing out to sea lights up beautifully
at sunset. Together, all of that creates a kind of upscale fishing
lodge ambiance. In fact, when The Beatles stayed here in the
1960s, they fished out of their guest room windows.
Meanwhile, the 223-room Edgewater is located in the
very heart of Seattle just a few minutes from the Bell Harbor
International Convention Center. The 100,000-sf waterfront
facility has 180-degree views of Puget Sound and the Olympic
Mountains.
In-house, The Edgewater is perfect for groups looking
to have a quiet yet elegant retreat, or for groups looking for
comfortable and peaceful meeting spaces. There are eight
meeting rooms totaling 10,000 sf, with much of them facing
Elliott Bay. The largest of the rooms is The Circular Olympic
ballroom for 300 people.
The cabin-style guest rooms are hard to leave. There's an
electric fireplace, great views of Puget Sound or the city, and a
giant bear claw bathtub that comes with a rubber ducky. Each
room also has HD TV, WiFi access and a fuzzy bear seat. The
European-style spa bathroom with glass-encased shower is
something to be experienced.
You'll love the Six Seven hotel restaurant helmed by Chef
John Roberts, who created a menu highlighting organic and
naturally-raised ingredients. Seafood is purchased from local
markets daily, and the wine list includes mostly regional wineries.
