Whether gliding through salt marshes and rivers, biking under
mossy oaks and swaying moss or trying their hands at the
4,000-year-old tradition of kayak fishing, Sea Island Resort
immerses groups in the luxury of nature, along with a few traditional
indulgences. David Furnish, director of sales and marketing at the
property, says clay shooting at the Sea Island Shooting School
followed by a fishing competition for the largest, smallest and mostcaught fish, a.k.a. "Cast & Blast," is a team building activity that
groups should not miss. But what Furnish is most excited about is
last month's arrival of the 71-ft customized yacht, the Sea Island
Explorer. "The three-level vessel is reminiscent of classic yachts of
the 1930s." Accommodating up to 49 passengers, the luxury yacht
features a double living room, covered top deck, prep kitchen with
customizable food and beverage and additional event space on
the bottom level, "making it ideal for scenic nature tours, pre-dinner
cocktail cruises, customized private events and more," Furnish
adds. "We expect it to be very popular with conference attendees."
Sea Island offers five accommodations options-The Inn, The
Cloister, Broadfield, The Lodge and more than 130 cottages-each
with their own vibe, whether sporting club, elegant hideaway or

Forbes Five-Star. The Lodge is currently undergoing a renovation
that will add six new cottages (14 new sleeping rooms brings the
total room count here to 57), a new oceanfront pool and pool
house, and an 18-hole putting course, which will debut this July just
in time for the 2018 RSM Classic, the PGA TOUR event hosted by
Sea Island resident Davis Love III. Cottages come with concierge
assistance and full access to resort amenities, making them ideal for
corporate retreats, while the resort's formal meeting space (45,000
sf in total) is fine-tuned for any occasion-intimate boardrooms to
sweeping gardens to extravagant ballrooms.
