M y love of hunting has taken me to some of the most beautiful landscapes Wyoming offers. With a rifle in hand and a pack frame slung over my back, I have hiked into places reserved for those willing to risk leaving established roadways behind. I traversed around Ramshorn Peak near Dubois while eluding grizzly bears. I buried my truck in deep sand among the active dunes northeast of Baggs searching for mule deer. I also flushed pheasants along the Middle Fork of the Powder River near the infamous Hole in the Wall hideout of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I filled freezers full of pronghorn stalked near my hometown of Midwest. I've even harvested an enormous-bodied bull elk in the insanely rugged Rattlesnake Mountains west of Casper. 28 | December 2022
