The Beartooth Mountains are located an hour from my
home and I was excited to get back there to explore for
wildlife photo opportunities. Finding a large herd of
mountain goats was special. There were many kids in the
herd, and I took some memorable shots of them. But this
nanny was too comical and my favorite image of the day.
Her shedding coat provided for dramatic, dangling bangs.
Taylor Swift would be jealous.

On a bluebird, winter day I took a bushwhack to see what
I could find deep in the wilderness. A deer rocketed past
me, her tongue bulging from her mouth in fright as I saw
some movement in the brush ahead. I stepped around
the bush and to my tremendous surprise a mountain
lion launched out of the brush. I left and returned that
afternoon with my camera trap, which captured this shot
of the cat returning to a nearby deer kill that night.
