RECREATION THIRD PLACE Art imitates life Grand Teton National Park Jacqueline Burke Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania Olympus OM-1; 1/250 sec., f/22; ISO 640 M y husband and I went to Wyoming from our home in Pennsylvania to photograph wildlife and scenery in the spring of 2024. While in Grand Teton National Park at Schwabacher Landing, we ran into an artist who was painting the Cathedral Group of the Grand Tetons. She explained that the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson was hosting a plein air festival in which more than 50 invited artists were given one day to create a new masterpiece. She graciously moved her easel from the shadows of a nearby pine tree into the sun so I could obtain the photo that I wanted without harsh shadows being present. 40 | February 2025
