MAILBAG
CAMP KITCHEN BOX STILL USEFUL
I got plans for this camp kitchen box out of a
Wyoming Wildlife story around 1984. A friend made
it from those plans. My hunting buddy and I have
used this camp kitchen in our tent while elk hunting
every year since 1986. In today's world we are about
the only tent out there, most everyone has a trailer.
There are many hunting stories that have been told
in that tent. The camp box ensured we never forgot
the items we needed to make a meal.

ALL IN THE NAME
What a surprise when one of my best friends
sent me a copy of your December 2022 issue of
Wyoming Wildlife. His son, Phil LeMaitre, wrote
an article titled, " My First Duck. " It immediately
brought back fond memories of that special hunt
and put a feel-good tear in my eye. Why? Because
I am Mr. Hilbert in the article, the best friend of
his dad, Gene LeMaitre. Phil couldn't pronounce
my name and to this day I am referred to as Mr.
Hilbert by the LeMaitre clan. A name I am proud
to answer to. Thank you for making this Christmas
a very special one for me.

FILL IN THE GAP
In your December 2022 issue the article, " A
Golden Era, " caught my attention. I have fished in the
Snowy Range for many years. Between an accretion
of birthdays and arthritis those days are over, but the
memories live on. The reason for this letter is the
picture on page 25 of a helicopter stocking a lake
that looks to me to be in the Snowy Range. If I had
to guess, I would say it is South Gap Lake. Could
you let me know if I am right?

Your guess is correct. The photo was used to show that
helicopter stocking is a common technique in golden
trout stocking in Wyoming's high-mountain lakes.
There are no golden trout in South Gap Lake, and in
this photo other species of fish were stocked. - R.G.
