DON'T NEED THE PUBLICITY
As a resident of Star Valley, I always look forward
to my copy of Wyoming Wildlife so I can see what is
going on in other parts of the state. My anticipation
met head-on with consternation when I opened
the June issue and saw Parker Loew's article on the
Greys River.
The last thing that area needs is more publicity.
I have to admit, though, that I did have to laugh
when I read this sentence: " I went to the Greys at
arguably one of the busiest times of the year and
only saw a few campers and anglers. " Did he write
this article 30 years ago? The first time I went up the
Greys was right around July 4, 1991, and I didn't see
anyone else all day. That doesn't happen now. You'll
be lucky to find a place to camp at any time in July
or August, for that matter. I'm guessing that's why
Mr. Loew caught so few fish.

ENJOYED THOROFARE ARTICLE
I enjoyed reading " Thoughts from the Thorofare "
in the July 2021 issue. In 2005, as the founding and
senior curator of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West's
Draper Natural History Museum, my colleagues and
I at the center had the great pleasure of working
with members of the Wyoming Game and Fish
Department to create a popular exhibition titled:

" A Place Called Thorofare: People, Wilderness and
Wildlife Management. " We presented the exhibition
to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the cabin's
construction.
The cabin and the events that have transpired in
and around it since 1955 excite and inspire all of
us who treasure Wyoming's wildlife, wild places and
the people who safeguard them.

CHERISHED MEMORY
I am a Wyoming native and grew up there, and
your recent article about the Thorofare hit a chord
with me and sent shivers down my spine as I was
fortunate enough to visit there many times.
Part of the allure is being able to say that I stayed
in the most remote place in the lower 48. However,
for me, it was the land itself. Nature at its element,
as close to untouched by humans as you can hope
to witness.
It was at the Thorofare and Bridger Lake where I
felt closer to God than any other place. Staring across
the lake, the moon reflecting off its still waters, a cow
moose grazing at the edge and not a sound - not
even a whisper of a breeze.
Is the Thorofare a special place? Indeed it is.

CLARIFICATION
The 2021 Aspen Days event hosted
by the Wyoming Game and Fish
Department and the Western Aspen
Alliance in Jackson was canceled in
August due to COVID-19. An article
in September's Wyoming Wildlife
stated Aspen Days was held, but the
cancellation was made after the
magazine went to print.
