NAM Launches Creators
Wanted 2020

How will manufacturing fill over 4 million jobs by 2028?
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is
banking on the next generation.
Research shows that half of the 4.6 million jobs are
expected to go unfilled due to a skills gap and a misperception about today's manufacturing. Creators Wanted 2020 is
hoping to fix the perception issue. NAM calls it an unprecedented national effort to build the manufacturing workforce
of tomorrow.
"NAM is the only organization prepared to take on this
challenge in a bold and creative way - and CEOs and executives recognize its potential. The NAM gets results, and
this campaign will deliver results," said Emerson Electric Co.

Beginning this spring, NAM will launch the Creators
Wanted roadshow to show America what modern manufacturing is all about. This mobile tour will visit at least
20 states over 18 weeks. It will be stopping by schools,
manufacturing sites, community events and festivals. Then,
in September, NAM will host the Making America Festival
in Cincinnati, where the organization was founded 125
years ago.
The initiative's website, www.creatorswanted.org, has over
30 inspiring videos narrated by a diverse group of people
who work across all fields in the industry. In the videos,
these representatives share what working in the manufacturing industry means to them.
The site also encourages manufacturers and organizations
that support the industry to get involved. On the most basic

level, you can participate by getting the word out about Creators Wanted 2020 and modern manufacturing in general.
NAM says that research shows that the right people communicating the right messages can shift views in a positive
direction. It even provides short messages you can share on
social media. Just remember that Generation Z - people
between the ages of 7 and 22 - gravitates toward Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube.
Perhaps one of the most motivating messages NAM
provides is "#Creatorswanted for high-skilled jobs that pay
an average salary of $81,000."
Beyond spreading the word about manufacturing careers,
NAM is looking for organizations to step up and sponsor
the effort. It is not only looking for support for the program's activities taking place this year, but it is also looking
for an investment in the Manufacturing Institute's ongoing
work to promote careers in the industry.
The campaign aims to cut the skills gap by 600,000
workers by 2025, increase by 25% the number of students
enrolling in technical and vocational schools, increase by
25% the number of students enrolling in apprenticeships
and reskilling programs, and raise to 50% - from 27% -
the number of parents who would encourage their children
to pursue a career in modern manufacturing.

Michael Lamach, CEO and chairman of Ingersoll Rand
and chairman of the NAM Board of Directors. "This is a
once-in-a-generation opportunity to leverage our organization's unmatched strength to tackle the workforce crisis with
immediate and long-term solutions."
