Cincinnati, Ohio.

relationships for Pilot Chemicals'
metalworking and lubricants business
in North America.
LANXESS ACQUIRES BRAZILIAN
BIOCIDE MANUFACTURER
LANXESS acquired Itibanyl Produto
Especials Ltda. (IPEL), a Jarinu, São
Paulo, Brazil-based biocide manufacturer. The transaction is expected to be
completed within the first quarter of
this year.
"The acquisition fits perfectly with
our strategic focus on profitable
specialty chemicals," said Rainier
van Roessel, a LANXESS Board of
Management member.
LANXESS will gain approximately
100 IPEL production employees and
take over IPEL's production facility
and laboratory facilities.
PALMER HOLLAND CONVERTS
TO ESOP
Palmer Holland converted its private
ownership to a privately held employee
stock ownership plan (ESOP), with an
ownership team consisting entirely of
employees.
"The conversion to an ESOP allows
Palmer Holland to benefit employees
and principals, live up to our core
values in excellence and evolve and
grow," said Palmer Holland CEO Bryn
Irvine. "It has always been our goal
to remain independent even in this
climate where others are selling."
An ESOP is similar to a profitsharing plan and lets a company set
up a trust fund and contribute new
shares of its stock as employee retirement benefits.
IN MEMORIAM
I
t is with great sadness that ILMA
learned of the passing of Tim
Driscoll. Tim was a former ILMA
officer and board member when he
was chief operating officer for ILMA
member company American Oil &
Supply International (AOSI). While
he was moving through the officer
chairs at ILMA in the mid-1980s, Tim
was very engaged in the Association's
advocacy efforts on used oil. At the
time of his passing, Tim remained
active in AOSI.
Tim was a graduate of Villanova
University and served as an officer
in the U.S. Navy. ILMA extends its
condolences to Tim's wife, Kathy, and
his family and friends.
