Safety Task Group (PAST).
The group our industry calls "ACC" is really the subgroup PAPTG, which deals with
the ACC Code of Practice (COP) or what is
commonly called "The Code." It is further
made up of several task groups to address
various aspects of product testing program
management and engine oil testing. The objective of the PAPTG is to pursue research
and advocacy issues relative to lubricant additives in order to enhance the performance
of engine lubricants. Ultimately, we strive to
have a system that provides more accurate
test results to assist in development of consistent and reproducible test programs, that
is open and transparent and that provides a
level playing field for all parties.
PAPTG member companies are active
developers, manufacturers or marketers
of performance-enhancing chemicals for
use in automotive lubricants. Current
PAPTG members are: Afton Chemical
Corp., BASF, BP Lubricants USA Inc.,
Chemtura, Chevron Oronite Co. LLC,
Evonik Oil Additives USA Inc., ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants & Specialties
Marketing Co., Infineum USA L.P. and
The Lubrizol Corp.
PAPTG HAS THREE MAIN
AREAS OF ACTIVITY:
MAINTENANCE
* Maintain, review and update the ACC
Product Approval Code of Practice
* Management and oversight of PAPTG
Work/Task Groups
* Provide technical support to API and
ILMA Quality Programs as requested
ADVOCACY
* Communicate and educate on the benefits of the ACC COP
* Monitor lubricant additive issues relevant
to the ACC COP and develop strategies
and solutions to engage accordingly
