FUCHS OPENS NEW GREASE PLANT
NEAR CHICAGO'S SOUTH SIDE
FUCHS Petrolub announced the grand
opening of a new $26 million grease
manufacturing plant, research laboratory and warehouse near Chicago. The
new 34,000-square-foot factory will
serve the automotive, heavy-duty truck,
construction, rail and off-road markets
in North America.
FUCHS Chairman and CEO Stefan
Fuchs cut the ribbon at the official
opening of the state-of-the-art facility in
Harvey, Illinois, with FUCHS employees and customers in attendance. The
company's overall operations at the site,
which is near Chicago's South Side, employ 400 people. "This is North America's newest and most modern grease
plant," said Fuchs, who traveled from
the company's headquarters in Germany
to mark the plant's opening. "This new
facility is a part of our worldwide strategy to have globally identical production
equipment, finishing equipment, quality
control test devices and identical quality
standards, all of which serve our customers with high-quality products that fit
their needs."

Drivers' World Champions held May
28 in London.
The race was cancelled after the first
of four laps because of rain, but STA
had the fastest lap in the time trial and
was in first place by a wide margin
when the race was called. STA's good
fortune this year makes up for PSR's
bad luck last year, when the STA car
crashed while leading the race.

PETRO-CANADA LUBRICANTS INC.'S
PAUL HETHERINGTON APPOINTED
FUTURE PRESIDENT OF STLE
Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) will welcome
a new outlook in May 2020, when
Petro-Canada Lubricants' Paul Hetherington becomes the first president from
a Canadian lubricants manufacturer to
take the reins.
"Having a seat at the STLE table
gives us access to additional research
and resources that we can use to help
lead the industry to better, more
efficient and longer-lasting lubricants,
which will in turn save our customers
time and money through improved
equipment and reliability," said
Hetherington, team leader, technical
services Canada, Petro-Canada.
Hetherington brings a wealth of experience to this new venture. The Ontario
native is a long-standing member on the
STLE board of directors and a lubricants industry veteran. Before joining
Petro-Canada in 2011, Hetherington
spent nine years at Fluid Life Corp. in
Edmonton, where he developed and
managed the consulting and training
division, and prior to that, he established
a 20-year career at Syncrude, during
which he became a lubricants and fuels
corporate technical advisor.
In addition to the STLE sharing its
emerging trends report across Europe
and Asia and promoting research
funding by the National Science Foundation, its resolution recognizing the
impact of tribology on the U.S. economy was recently introduced to the U.S.
House of Representatives.
"As president," said Hetherington,
"it will be my responsibility to ensure
that we continue to engage in positive,
transformational industry initiatives
that will have a ripple effect across the
globe, maximizing energy efficiency
and ensuring long-term sustainability
for a better world tomorrow."
Hetherington officially joined the
STLE Executive Committee as treasurer in May 2017; the highly anticipated
presidency will kick off in May 2020
in Chicago during the 75th STLE
Annual Meeting.
